About the Faculty of Theology
The Faculty of Theology is one of the founding faculties of the University of Ljubljana. Its intellectual roots extend to medieval monastic and cathedral schools, while its contemporary work addresses theological, religious, ethical, educational, psychological and social questions. Drawing on Scripture, Christian Tradition and the broader history of human thought, the Faculty promotes critical reflection on faith and revelation, religions in history and contemporary life, morality, canon law, education and psychology. It understands theology as a discipline in dialogue with philosophy, religious studies, psychology, psychotherapy, sociology, ethics, pedagogy and family studies. The Faculty’s research and teaching are characterised by engagement with the Christian intellectual heritage, critical attention to the challenges of pluralistic contemporary society, and a commitment to human dignity, mental well-being, responsibility and constructive social dialogue.
