Encountering the Other in Greece

"Encountering the other" is not only the slogan of host Volos Academy of RESILIENCE's meeting with researchers in Greece, but also what was practiced during the meeting.

Research in Greece and Surrounding Countries

15 scholars and experts from Greece and surrounding countries responded to the invitation to come to Volos for an indepth exchange on doing research and what is needed to improve it with the help of the RESILIENCE Research Infrastructure for Religious Studies.

Encounter

The scholars and experts came from different backgrounds, like, theology, anthropolgy, Biblical Studies etc. which led to very diverse presentations and conversations about different types of research. But all had one thing in commong: the motivation to encounter the other and to learn from her or him. That was convincingly practiced durihng the two-day meeting, discussing questions like: “What is your research about, what tools do you use or wish, what is needed for doing good research?”

Interviews

In addition to the plenary sessions with presentations by RESILIENCE and by Nino Sadzaglishvili (Athens ΕΚΠΑ), Riad Ibrahim Ghobrial (Oxford Center for Mission Studies), Myrto Theocharous (Greek Bible College) and Ioannis Mylonelis (Aristotle University of Thessaloniki/ Democritus University of Thrace),  individual and group interviews were conducted by the RESILIENCE team. In these interviews, a lot of valuable information could be collected that will be used in the development of the RESILIENCE service catalogue.
