Αfter a two-year-long process of hard and meticulous work by a great number of scientists and ESFRI delegates, a new ESFRI Roadmap is to be published. On December 7th, 2021, ESFRI will present the 2021 ESFRI Roadmap on Large Scale Research Infrastructures during a half-day online conference.
The ESFRI Roadmap 2021 Launch Event will begin with the ESFRI Roadmap 2021 presentation ceremony. The event will include a comprehensive presentation and discussion on the ESFRI Roadmap 2021, followed by the presentation of 11 new Research Infrastructure Projects, and will feature sessions on strategic research infrastructure policy challenges. The Slovenian Minister of Education, Science and Sport, Dr. Simona Kustec and Commissioner for Innovation, Research, Culture, Education and Youth, Ms. Mariya Gabriel, will deliver opening addresses at the event.
The ESFRI Roadmap 2021 will include 11 new Research Infrastructure Projects and report on the development of research infrastructures under the existing Roadmap. The ESFRI Roadmap 2021 presents in detail the most outstanding European science facilities, determined by a thorough evaluation and selection procedure. It also describes the broader landscape of research in Europe, which is an important component of the ESFRI methodology.
All previous ESFRI Roadmap updates proved to be very influential and provided useful strategic guidance for European Countries’ investments, which goes beyond the research infrastructure domain. The 2021 update also considers the merits of the Open science concept and highlights the quest to address global challenges, as reflected in the UN Sustainable Development Goals.
RESILIENCE is one of the Research Infrastructure Projects which is included in the ESFRI Roadmap 2021.
