The Faculty of Theology is one of the 26 members of the University of Ljubljana, making it the only theological faculty in Slovenia, which was also one of the four founding members of the first university in Slovenia, in 1919.

Faculty of Theology

The Faculty of Theology is one of the 26 members of the University of Ljubljana, making it the only theological faculty in Slovenia, which was also one of the four founding members of the first university in Slovenia, in 1919. The Faculty of Theology has two units – in Ljubljana and in Maribor. The focus of study is theological and religious studies, with an emphasis on ethics, education and interrelationships. One of the special features of the Faculty of Theology is the study of Marital and Family Studies.

Theological Quarterly

Since 1921, with a several year interruption after World War II, the Faculty of Theology has published a journal Bogoslovni vestnik (Theological Quarterly). Unity and Dialogue is a scientific journal of the Stanko Janežič Institute of Dogmatic, Fundamental and Ecumenical Theology and of Religiology and Dialogue at the Faculty of Theology of University of Ljubljana with recension.

The journal has been published since 1924. The journal is a new series of journals Kraljestvo božje year and V edinosti. Unity and Dialogue, year 68, was issued in 2013.

Libraries

The Faculty of Theology also has two libraries – the Theological Library in Ljubljana and the Theological Library in Maribor. It is also worth mentioning the National Slovenian Library and various archives (especially the diocesan archives), which hold rich archival materials of the study of theology and religious studies in the Slovenian environment, which has also been divided and intertwined with the influence of different cultures throughout history.
