About KU Leuven

All programmes at this University are based on the innovative research of its scientists and professors. KU Leuven ranks among the best 50 universities worldwide, its Faculty of Theology and Religious Studies among the best 10 faculties of theology and religious studies worldwide!

The Faculty of Theology and Religious Studies is one of the oldest theological faculties in the world. During the late Middle Ages, it was not common practice to allow the establishment of a faculty of theology except at those universities that had given proof of their worth. The Faculty of Theology and Religious Studies conceives itself as situated at the crossroads of the academy, the Church, and present day culture and society, with a special place for the Catholic tradition.

The Faculty’s research and teaching is characterized by a careful handling of the past, a profound commitment with regard to the present and a hopeful belief in a better future.
