The recipients of the fourth edition of the "Piazza Grande" Religion Journalism Award will be announced during the General Assembly of #EuARe2025, July 8.
The Award was first launched in 2019 by the International Association of Religion Journalists (IARJ) and the Fondazione per le Scienze Religiose Giovanni XXIII (FSCIRE) to honour the work of journalists covering faith and religion in Europe and the countries surrounding the Mediterranean basin.
Over the years journalists with different backgrounds and of different cultures and languages have submitted compelling stories exploring religion’s role in peace and conflict; highlighting efforts at dialogue at local, regional and international levels and showing how religion shapes public life, including technology and the fine arts.
The quality of the works submitted and the variety of topics covered made it challenging for the international Jury to pick the best stories.
In its fourth edition, the award has shown again that religion is a viable and important beat and there are great reporters covering faith and religion with balance, fairness and accuracy.
The Award winners will be announced during the EuARe’s General Assembly, scheduled July 8, 2:30 PM at the University of Vienna.
