RESILIENCE Meets its Advisors – a Fruitful Exchange on Progress and Challenges

A full day of meetings with experts from various disciplines once again proved to be an important source of critical and constructive feedback. The well-represented RESILIENCE consortium seized this opportunity with both hands and called on the expertise available.

Advisors

The Advisory Board Members Prof. Dr. Paola Buzi (Rome), Prof. Dr. Vasilios Makrides (Erfurt), Dr. Fabio Mazzolini (Trieste), Prof. Dr. Dirk van Miert (Utrecht), Prof. Dr. Bart Wallet, all appointed in January 2024, attended the RESILIENCE meeting which was held at Fscire in Bologna.

Progress

The RESILIENCE research infrastructure is gradually crossing from the preparation to the establishment of an ERIC, moving from the preparatory phase to the implementation phase. Progress made in this respect was evidenced by the presentations of the leaders of the workpackages on Management, Sustainability, Users, Services, Communication/Dissemination and Impact, mentioning the results, deliverables, insights achieved and challenges remained. These presentations prompted the advisors to question the RESILIENCE team about their choices and to respond to them.

Exchange

More specific feedback could be given in individual sessions between all workpackages and the expert,s leading to an interesting exchange on questions like: how to keep users in the loop, guiding them from what they need to what the research infrastructure offers, how to keep users in the loop, how to reach out to new communities to secure an ongoing enlargement, how to work effectively with the data coming from the future impact monitoring and reporting, etc.

Fruitful

The chosen methodology proved successful, as the individual sessions provided an opportunity to address the challenges in greater detail and thus provide targeted feedback. The exchange was considered fruitful by the participants, not least because recommendations can guide future strategies or make an important contribution to them. This included the recommendation to involve young people in a structured way, because their approach to research sometimes differs from that of senior scholars, and also to work on the sustainability.

ITSERR

Rudy Demo gave an update of the status of the “Italian Strengthening of the ESFRI RI RESILIENCE” (ITSERR), and the services that are currently being prepared for the study of religion. He presented a prototype of the future platform, mproviding a glimpse into the near future, when the platform offering the various services becomes available.
