RESILIENCE TNA Webinar: Tradition and Innovation. The FSCIRE Libraries and Their Collections

11 April 2022

RESILIENCE Coordinator FSCIRE invites all interested in its libraries and collections to a one hour webinar on Monday April 11, 2022, 13:00-14:00 h CET.

Abstract

The webinar will introduce the participants to the book and archival collections held by FSCIRE in its research facilities in Bologna and Palermo. Since its establishment in 1953, Fscire has acquired a wide-ranging spectrum of studies and documents focusing, in particular on the history of Christianity (Bologna) and, more recently, on the history and doctrines of Islam (Palermo). In this webinar, participants will discover the wealth and diversity of these collections and how to access them and learn about some of the projects undertaken by FSCIRE to enhance their fruition.

Date and Time

11 April, 2022, 13:00-14:00 h CET.

Training

The hands-on session will focus on the AlKindi catalogue.

AlKindi is a union catalogue of the Middle East’s written religious and cultural heritage, which gives access to collections available at the Dominican Institute for Oriental Studies, the Institute of Arabic Manuscripts, and the La Pira Library, and which combines the process of cataloguing texts in the main Islamic languages with direct research on sources, providing a unique service in this field. Participants will learn how to access the bibliographic information on resources available in partner libraries and navigate the various primary and secondary resources that AlKindi maps to describe the genealogy and literary descent of Medieval works.

In the webinar you will:

  • learn about FSCIRE facilities in Bologna and Palermo;
  • learn about the advantages for TNA applicants;
  • discover FSCIRE book and archival collections;
  • learn how to navigate the AlKindi catalogue.
